Founded in 1912, Calgary Public Library has grown to become the second largest library system in Canada, and the and sixth largest municipal library system in North America. We’re home to more than 720,000 active members who enjoy free access to the books, e-resources, services, and programs available at our 21 community libraries that welcome more than 6.9 million visitors each year. Our 240,000 sq. ft. Central Library, the gateway to the East Village, opened on November 1, 2018.
